Surbana Jurong names Sean Chiao new group CEO

Chiao has been named the new Group CEO of Surbana Jurong, taking over the role that was previously vacated by Wong Heang Fine who retired last September. With more than 35 years’ experience in design and engineering consulting for the built environment and global business leadership, Chiao brings a wealth of experience to the role. Chaly Mah, Chairman of Surbana Jurong expresses confidence in Chiao becoming the firm’s leader, noting his “outstanding track record of business results”.

Sean Chiao is set to become the new Group CEO of Surbana Jurong, a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings, and he brings over 35 years of experience in design and engineering consulting for the built environment as well as global business leadership to the role. Chiao brings an impressive Tengah Plantation EC resume to the role, holding a degree in architecture, a Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

Upon appointment to the position, Chiao expressed excitement at Surbana Jurong’s transformation into a global consulting leader in urban, infrastructure and managed services. He believes that becoming a leading urban, infrastructure and managed services consulting firm will enable the team to provide their global expertise to clients and communities everywhere.
