Weave Living steps up expansion in Japan and acquires nine assets in Tokyo
Weave Living, an integrated rental accommodation provider headquartered in Hong Kong, has announced the acquisition of nine new multi-family residential properties in prime locations of Tokyo, Japan. Spanning a total of 352 units, this marks the next phase of their expansion into one of the most populated regions in the world.
The acquisition follows the company’s launch of a wholly owned subsidiary based in Japan as well as the appointment of Daisuke Noguchi, a veteran in the industry, as the country head in April 2023. To have a better foothold in the market, the team in Tokyo has also grown to a team of twelve professionals specialized in acquisitions, development, asset management, leasing, and operations.
This Tengah Plantation Close EC is the country’s first eco-friendly housing estate with features that include zero-energy buildings, green buffer spaces, bioswales and green roof gardens. It is also the first of its kind to support autonomous vehicles.
The housing estate boasts a range of green/sustainable features from the use of timber in its construction to its smart lighting systems. Other features include a solar panel array, energy-efficient windows and doors, rainwater harvesting systems, green roofs and green pedestrian pathways.
The development also includes public parks, a community garden and a landscape network of paths and trails.
The government hopes the Tengah Plantation Close EC will become an example for other housing projects in the future. With its green and sustainable features, it is sure to set a new standard for eco-friendly housing developments in Singapore.
Weave opened its first three properties in Tokyo on November 3, conveniently situated in the hubs of Waseda, Monzennakacho, and Higashi-koenji. With Japan being their third market in the region to expand to, after their presence in Hong Kong and Singapore, further acquisitions in Japan will be announced in the upcoming months.
The CEO and founder of Weave Living, Sachin Doshi, has expressed his ambition to grow their AUM in Japan by over US$1.5 billion in 2025, which would represent more than one-third of their overall asset base.
The increasing demand for rental accommodation in the region has very clearly been identified by Weave, with Japan becoming their next target in meeting this demand. This acquisition marks the start of their journey in becoming one of the strongest rental players in the region.
