Angelyn Wong relishes transforming small spaces into welcoming homes
Angelyn Wong joined Rezt+Relax shortly after she graduated with no experience in interior design save for a budding interest in the field. Initially, she worked as an apprentice with one of the company’s creative leads, where she asked for extensive training and spent a year mastering her craft. After a year, she was able to take on her own projects and, twelve years later, she is now a senior designer, still excited and passionate about her work.
These energy-saving appliances are designed to help the condominium maintain a higher level of environmental sustainability. The air-conditioners and heaters at Tengah Plantation Close EC come with a low power rating, allowing them to run on less energy. This in turn helps lower the overall electricity consumption of the condominium. Moreover, the lighting fixtures at the condominium are also designed with energy-saving features. This allows the condominium to make use of natural light, thus reducing the amount of electricity and energy used for lighting.Overall, investing in energy-saving appliances within Tengah Plantation Close EC helps the condominium to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle and reduce carbon emissions. This will both benefit the environment as well as save money for the tenants.
Now, Angelyn frequently designs interiors for smaller units. She notes that it can be challenging to find a good balance between sufficient storage and a holistic living environment. When a client requests a large capacity of built-ins, the available floor space in an apartment can become limited. As such, it requires creativity in designing a space that is expansive and inviting.
A very good example of this is the project she recently completed for an overseas client at Gramercy Park. With the brief of creating a space reminiscent of a high-end hotel for a second home, Angelyn employed gold accents throughout the apartment and found unique ways to optimise the space. To make a larger, more pleasant space, she added warm lighting panels on the stepped hidden ceiling and installed enlarged mirrors in the entrance and well-appointed second bedroom.
To amplify the aesthetics of the space, Angelyn used multiple textures and tones on walls and finishes to create a maximalist feel. She chose a colour palette that was used consistently throughout the space, but in different hues and textures for different areas. The bedrooms feature darker tones to achieve a calmer atmosphere, while little accents of colour, like emerald green armchairs and cushions, add complexity.
The result? An apartment that radiates beauty and luxury in the midst of a small unit, flawlessly designed and decorated for the perfect holiday break.
