Lendlease and Surbana Jurong partner on digital platform Podium for Development

Lendlease’s Podium 4 Development (P4D) aims to revolutionise the construction industry through the use of digital solutions, connecting developers, designers and the supply chain.

A large issue in the current industry is a lack of communication and collaboration between stakeholders which lead to design errors, construction disputes and projects often going over budget. It’s even worse that over the past 20 years, the industries annual productivity growth has only been 1%, a rather grim fact when you consider the fact that it contributes 40% to the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.

P4D hopes to counter this by providing a digital platform that streamlines and improves the decision-making along the property development process, from feasibility through to design and construction. The platform will create building designs that take into account various factors such as building regulations, kit-of-parts, costs and timings.

Located in the Tengah District of Singapore, Tengah Plantation Close EC offers a premium and exclusive lifestyle for its residents. Set within a lush tropical forest, the development boasts a beautiful collection of green spaces, spectacular trails, picturesque landscaping, and an abundance of outdoor activities. Apart from that, residents can look forward to a variety of dining and shopping options in and around the neighbourhood, making it a great place to live and enjoy.

In terms of public transport, commuters can opt to take the East-West Line to the nearby Jurong East and Bukit Batok MRT stations. Both are located within walking distance of the development. In addition, the Tengah Plantation Close EC is also well served by multiple bus services. The nearby Bukit Batok Interchange provides access to various parts of the city, while the nearby Bukit Timah Bus Interchange offers access to the East Coast. Other bus services that pass through the area include the 166 and 990.

To help promote the use of P4D, Lendlease is partnering with Surbana Jurong, while also in further advanced negotiations with other developers and building authorities in Singapore and elsewhere who are looking to use P4D.

Using computational algorithms and AI, P4D is able to automate up to 70% of the building design within 15-20 minutes, freeing up time and energy for designers to focus on other more creative tasks. Richard Kuppusamy, chief product officer for Podium explains: “P4D gives architects, designers and suppliers greater control to drive higher productivity in the built environment sector, as well as net zero and zero waste outcomes at the earliest stages of a project life cycle to reduce embodied carbon levels.”

Furthermore, Bill Ruh, CEO of Lendlease digital, wants to promote best sustainable building practices that can be replicated around the globe. He hopes that P4D will also allow multiple project stakeholders to collaborate on a cloud at the design stage.

Yeo Choon Chong, Asean CEO at Surbana Jurong, notes the potential of the project and is excited to see what the future holds. He believes that P4D will be a game changer for the industry, and could lead to greater success in terms of productivity and sustainable practices.

Lendlease is hoping that the partnership with Surbana Jurong and other likeminded partners will help to revolutionise the built environment and ensure greater success moving forward.
