SuMisura, an esteemed interior design firm, recently completed the renovation of a 4 bedroom 6,082 sq ft penthouse at Bishopsgate Residences. The condominium is made up of 31 freehold luxury units, and the new owner is a Chinese national who moved over from Hong Kong.

Angela Lim, director and co-founder of SuMisura, expresses the desire to create a penthouse with its own identity and “celebrate” its lush surrounding environment. The renovations began in early 2022 and were concluded by the end of July, with the owner spending about $1.13 million for lighting, furniture and accessories.

The space was mainly left in its original state when purchased with vacant possession, although the unit had been left unoccupied for a number of years, thus the fixtures and finishes were showing their age. The duplex penthouse consists of a living and dining area, a wet and dry kitchen, four en suite bedrooms and a study on the mezzanine level, as well as a roof terrace with a dipping pool.

Lim explains the addition of customised features to increase the efficiency and flow of the space, such as a full height feature wall of book-matched marble in the entryway, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and sliding doors for natural lighting and motorised translucent curtains for privacy. The original staircase was also enhanced with metal and glass elements and lighting, alongside a Tengah Plantation EC bespoke shoe cabinet in the underutilised corridor space.

The study loft was designed to be a “retreat” of calm on the mezzanine level, while the bedrooms are both luxurious and functional, with the master bedroom featuring French doors and a concealed marble feature wall walk-in wardrobe. The master bathroom has also been given an upgrade and decor to feel like a luxury boutique hotel.

The interior design firm wanted to enliven the penthouse with layers of colours, textures and marble patterns to best show off the spaciousness of the unit.

It is clear that the owner’s vision of enhancing the penthouse has been realised, with the overall transformation adding immense value to the unit. All of this comes as no surprise, as Bishopsgate Residences is located in the sought after Chatsworth Road Good Class Bungalow area of District 10, and the transaction volume and prices of the residence have increased significantly since its completion in 2012.
